What does 'Jai Yen' mean?
In the Thai language, jai literally translates to 'heart' and 'mind' as if they are one, while yen means either 'cool' or 'calm.' Jai Yen thus expresses that to be well we all must cool our hearts, and calm our minds.
And what is 'EcoHolistic'?
Jai is a very holistic term, for the Thai culture uses it as a root-word to convey over 700 emotional, mental, physical and spiritual conditions. While jai recognizes that each of these are interconnected in our whole well being, ecoholistic is a term embodying the importance of our natural environment within our holistic health, too.
What does a Health Coach do?
As a Health Coach, I study major dietary theories from around the world and use practical lifestyle coaching methods to guide you in discovering what nutritional and lifestyle choices may work best for you.
Most approaches to nutrition dwell on calories, carbs, fats, proteins, yet it must be recognized that no one diet works for everyone. Instead of restrictions and lists of good and bad foods, I encourage clients to replace, not restrict; to substitute, not to subtract. It is through satisfying ones innate desires, not deprivation and punishing ones conditioned behaviors, which creates for a more balanced, happy life in a way that is flexible, fun and free of denial and harsh discipline.
Jai Yen Wellness: EcoHolistic Health Coaching identifies your unique biological balance and interconnection with nature’s realm.

I've had a great time with Shelby, I've learned so much from her, what a benefit to myself and my family. For me this hasn't been as much about weight as it has been about health. I realized the 4-5 pills I take each day is just too much and that by eating better I could change the course of my health. I worry about the damage I've already done to my body with the chemicals in all the foods and my laziness with regards to "having too much to try to figure out". Trying to learn everything out there about nutritional information was overwhelming. It seemed like it would be taking on a whole new career, how was I ever going to make sense of it all? Well Shelby did that for me, and she fed me easy to digest (pun intended) information that I could integrate in my life without turning it upside down. I now find myself making better choices than I ever have, and those choices are because I choose them and I feel good about that. Food has never tasted so good and I have realized that we are capable of healing ourselves. Many thanks to Jai Yen Wellness and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition®.
